Modified School Start Time
In January 2016, a committee (Modified School Start Time) was tasked with developing a plan that would have high school and potentially middle school students start school later in the morning. This would present an opportunity to also change elementary start times to take advantage of the elementary students' own sleep patterns and physiology.
Below are many of the related articles, videos, discussion notes and research used by the committee to develop various scenarios. The district has drafted a Request for Proposal and is now seeking an educational consultant to review these scenarios and help us determine if they are feasible for our district. Scenarios being considered are in the early stages and have not been approved by the LCSD Board of Education. We do not anticipate any modifications to start times for the 2017-2018 school year.
